2021 MAY MOVIE RANKINGS:
In usual fashion, I upload a movie rankings while we are well underway into another month. Whaddaya expect? I bet you thought I’d review more than a few flicks as well, didn’t yah? No? Clever girl.
#3- “Coming to America”
80%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Funny, entertaining concept, a fun viewing experience, and great comedic performances.
Cons: The ending seemed to be missing a scene (between break-up and make-up), which made the resolution feel rushed/out of the blue.
#2- “Annie Hall”
91%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Modern for its time (set the standard for witty rom-coms to come), solid acting, great dialogue/writing, and quite humorous.
Cons: The story structure can be confusing/all over the place, and I don’t understand how Woody Allen is an irresistable individual.
#1- “Drive”
94%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Riveting viewing experience, stellar cast, fantastic cinematography, great action sequences, killer score, and a solid story structure.
Cons: The violence can be a bit too much (but that’s a matter of preference).
“Drive” takes May, and will go on to face “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Coherence” (2013), “The Elephant Man” (1980), “Dead Poets Society,” and the future monthly winners to decide who will become the next Movie of the Year!
Stay tuned for the first reviews of June…
