FRIDAY NIGHT/HAUNTED JUICY I REVIEW: If you haven’t noticed the category of this review (to the left), I just wanted to point out that this is the first Haunted Juicy Review. From now on, every Halloween I will review a Horror/Halloween type movie and put it under the name, Haunted Juicy Review. It’s like “The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror,” but in review. So anyway, the first movie I am reviewing for the Haunted Juicy Review is “Sleepy Hollow.” The movie stars Johnny Depp (Transcendence, Edward Scissorhands), Christina Ricci (Speed Racer [2008], Monster), Miranda Richardson (The Phantom of the Opera [2004], Fred Claus), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Gosford Park), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, The Omega Code), Jeffrey Jones (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Devil’s Advocate), Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Hugo), Ian McDiarmid (Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith, Utopia [2013 TV series]), Michael Gough (Batman (1989), Corpse Bride), Marc Pickering (Les Miserables [2012], Calendar Girls), and Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can, The Deer Hunter). This movie is about a Constable named Ichabod Crane (Depp) who travels to the town of Sleepy Hollow to figure out who is the person who murdered three people by chopping off their heads. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he finds out dark secrets and when he sees the murder, he realizes the big mistake of coming to Sleepy Hollow.

I fairly enjoyed this movie. I have never seen it before, but I do watch the TV series with the same name. The story was fantastic giving a very dark theme while showing some humor in it as well. Of course when you have a director like Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Returns) you are bound to have something as eerie as this. The acting was also magnificent, with everyone having a great way of portraying their character, especially Johnny Depp. He is one of my favorite actors because he gets really deep into every character, becoming a different person in every role he is in. I also have to point out this: Christopher Walken. He is my all time favorite actor (if you haven’t noticed by the banner of the site, the picture above, and Wednesdays) and to see him in this movie was very exciting. He is just an amazing actor. The special effects and action scenes of this movie were also great even though there was quite a lot of gore put in (I’m not big on a gore fest). I loved all the chasing scenes as well as the fight scenes between the townspeople and the Headless Horseman (Walken). There are not many cons in particular for this movie. One of them would be how Christopher Walken was barely in the movie. He was in the beginning and in the end. That was it. I would have preferred him to have a larger role, but he chose to be the HEADLESS Horseman. He also didn’t talk, which was a shame. Another con would have to be that in the middle it did slow down and tended to drag in story. I soon picked up towards the end though. The last con goes out to those queasy people: the blood. There is a good bit of projectile blood throughout the movie and if you are afraid of the sight of your own blood, it would be best not to see this movie. I tended to get over the top at times like when Crane was chopping the Tree of the Dead. Other than those, this movie is a great film and an overall well done Halloween/Horror movie. I recommend anyone that hasn’t seen it to watch it! FINAL SCORE: 88%= Juicy Popcorn
