October Movie Rankings

OCTOBER MOVIE RANKINGS: It has been a very eventful month of movies, mostly due to the Marvel Movie Madness. This month has introduced new things as well as showing old things. Twelve movies in total with only ten positions, meaning that there are two ties because of the scores being the same. Hopefully November will be this jam packed as we head to only two whole months left until the Juicy Awards II! So proceed on to read the second October Movie Rankings:

October 1

#10- “The Double” (2011)
71%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Okay story, great action scenes, great acting, and brilliant chemistry between Richard Gere and Topher Grace.
Cons: It may confuse people, there is a plot twist at the end that just adds too much to the story, and there is a pretty blunt death scene at the end that didn’t give too much closure.

#9- “Brick Mansions”
74%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: It did better than the reviews in story, there were great performances, and the action scenes were superb.
Cons: There wasn’t any realism to the residents of Brick Mansions towards the end (drug addicts and criminals aren’t necessarily happy and nice) and there was a bit too much action for the movie, taking up a lot of the time to explain what is going on.

October 2

#8- “Godzilla” (2014)
75%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was okay, the acting was well done (Bryan Cranston is always great), the action scenes were killer, and the special effects were a big step up from the original movies.
Cons: The story began to dip in the middle only to give pace towards the end and the promotion of this movie gave to believe that Bryan Cranston was the main character when he wasn’t.

#8- “Transformers: Age of Extinction”
75%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was good, the CGI was amazing, the acting was okay, the action scenes were always spectacular, and it was funny.
Cons: Some characters felt stale, making some of the acting fall short (when no one seems to freak out about giant robots coming at them), it got slow in parts throughout the movie, they killed off the funniest character in the beginning, and they tried to put in a bad guy towards the end along with the prime bad guy, which was too much.

October 3

#7- “Iron Man 2”
80%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was good for a sequel, the villain was good, the acting was great (especially the transition of actors for James Rhodey), the special effects were amazing, and the action scenes were awesome for what there was.
Cons: The movie was slow in parts throughout due to the dialogue, which this movie tried to focus more of other than action like the first one.

#6- “The Signal” (2014)
81%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was intriguing, it kept me in the dark for a great percentage of the movie, it was mind-bending, the concept was great, the acting was really good, the action scenes were epic, and the special effects were done well.
Cons: The flow of the movie (showing Nic’s life in montages when I want to see the main story) and the ending could have been done better than what was given (it was okay for what it was, but I thought they should’ve done in differently).

October 4

#5- “Thor”
84%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was great, there were great performances throughout, the scenery of the different realms is gorgeous, the action scenes are spectacular, and the special effects were awesome.
Cons: Shots in the film tended to linger from time to time, there were goofs (mistakes in the filmmaking), Hawkeye was just thrown in there, and they promoted a battle with the Frost Giants in the beginning when it never happened.

#4- “The Incredible Hulk”
86%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story is interesting, the action scenes are epic, the special effects are great, and the acting is phenomenal (Edward Norton especially).
Cons: The story felt a bit rushed and if they flushed out their characters more, it would’ve been better. Abomination felt snuck in as well.

October 5

#3- “Sleepy Hollow”
88%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was fantastic, the special effects were great, the acting was magnificent, and Christopher Walken is in it.
Cons: Christopher Walken was barely in the movie, it slowed down in the middle of the movie, and there was quite a bit of gore in this movie.

#2- “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The Story did well, it was a great sign off to the trilogy, the action and special effects were marvelous, and the acting as always was awesome.
Cons: The run time of this movie was extremely long and it began to drag in parts throughout.

October 6

#2- “Iron Man”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story is rich in its genres, the acting is superb, the villain was great, and the action and special effects were amazing.
Cons: Some scenes posed to be hard to believe and some characters felt like they were thrown in.

October 7

#1- “The Avengers”
92%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story is great, the action and special effects were flawless, the chemistry is great between the characters, and the acting was on point.
Cons: Tony Stark’s arc reactor seemed to play hide and seek throughout the film and Captain America was very stiff in the movie.

There you have it! “The Avengers” will go up against “The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Zombieland,” “300,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Forrest Gump,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Matrix,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Mission Impossible III, ” and the rest of the Movie of the Months next January to see which one will become 2014’s Movie of the Year! Stay tuned to read the first review of November 2014.
