APRIL MOVIE RANKINGS

This is coming extremely late; I apologize for that. Sophomore year of college is now a wrap for me, so I’m hoping to sit down and commit more to this site. Until my first review for May drops, here is the rankings of all movies I analyzed during the course of April.

#4- “Mom and Dad” (2017)
11%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Funny (if that’s any consolation) and has some great shots sprinkled throughout the film.
Cons: The story is completely convoluted and ludicrous, never really settling for explanation or seriousness but rather dancing around the concepts. Everything was as silly as it gets with hardly any appeal on a good level.

#3- “Downsizing” (2017)
50%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Solid acting, interesting concept, and good cinematography.
Cons: The story was dull and void of life, falling listlessly as the time kept going; I couldn’t tell what the endgame was nor the lesson after viewing it.

#2- “Ready Player One”
82%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Entertaining, cool visual effects, great world to explore, and an overall fun time to be had.
Cons: Development regarding the real world and characters is rather hollow, and the acting was a bit flat and one-dimensional.

#1- “Avengers: Infinity War”
94%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The epitome of Marvel fans’ dreams, great villain development, awesome visual effects, great interweaving of array of characters, cool action sequences, and haunting ending.
Cons: A few nitpicks, specifically revolving around death of characters (since Marvel is known for bringing back those long gone).

#1- “Isle of Dogs”
94%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Amazing stop-motion and character models, great voice cast, beautiful cinematography, original story, and a fun watch.
Cons: There could’ve been better development with the characters.

It’s another tie! “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Isle of Dogs” will face off against “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “Blade Runner 2049,” “Darkest Hour” (2017), and the rest of the months to decide what film will be crowned Movie of the Year!
