JANUARY MOVIE RANKINGS:

Sorry for the long delay of these rankings, but here they are!

#5- “Inferno”
60%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: The musical score is good, the actors try, and the locations are nice.
Cons: The plot is dull and lifeless, the performances are bland, and the character development is hollow.

#4- “Star Wars: Episode VIII- The Last Jedi”
62%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Great cinematography, awesome visual effects, solid performances (for some), and some memorable moments.
Cons: The plot throws away all that “Force Awakens” built towards and the pacing was slow.

#3- “The Da Vinci Code”
70%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: The performances are alright, the cinematography is beautiful, the locations are spectacular, and Ron Howard’s direction is choice.
Cons: The concept is a bit too blasphemous for me (though I understand it’s fiction), character development is sporadic, is at times predictable, and carries itself in a hum-drum manner.

#2- “American Made”
79%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Interesting story, great acting, and cool approach to filming the plot (by means of handheld documentary).
Cons: The film needed to stop and smell the roses every once in a while (too fast in scene jumping) and the stakes are almost non-existent.

#2- “Angels & Demons”
79%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Fun, entertaining, amazing locations, fantastic cinematography, great score, and solid acting.
Cons: No character development and predictable.

#1- “Glengarry Glen Ross”
91%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Brilliant performances, engaging dialogue, and fantastic direction.
Cons: The business the characters are a part of is difficult to understand for a majority of the feature (though I grew to know it).

“Glengarry Glen Ross” is our first Movie of the Month victor, and will move on to compete for the coveted Movie of the Year.
