FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Last night I saw the movie “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” which stars Megan Fox (Transformers, This is 40), Will Arnett (The Lego Movie, Hot Rod), William Fichtner (The Lone Ranger, Armageddon), Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Fired Up!), Noel Fisher (Battle Los Angeles, Final Destination 2), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa), Jeremy Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Galaxy Quest), Tony Shalhoub (Monk, Men in Black), Tohoru Masamune (Inception, Warbirds), and Whoopi Goldberg (Rat Race, Ghost). In this movie, a young reporter named April O’Neil (Fox) stumbles upon a robbing by a gang group called the Foot Clan. She thought that she had a great scoop until it became bigger when four masked vigilantes swoop in and knock out members and foil the Foot Clan’s plans. Once April finds the vigilantes, she discovers that they aren’t average heroes: they’re giant turtles. Their names are Leonardo (Knoxville), Raphael (Ritchson), Donatello (Howard), and Michelangelo (Fisher) who have become who they are by experimentation and have been trained to fight by their master/father Master Splinter (Shalhoub). Together, they must stop the evil Shredder (Masamune) from releasing a deadly disease on New York City.
I thought that this movie was pretty good. The origin was done good (they’ve made several others already so I can’t complain). The acting was also great and it provided funniness like all Michael Bay films. The special effects were awesome and of course it’s not a Bay film without huge explosions and slow motion reels. The cons of this movie would be that in some places the story got dull. The movie as a whole was fine, but some other parts were just….I don’t know. Mainly by dull, I also mean cheesy and usually it would work sometimes because cheesiness can be funny, but not all the time in this movie. I had low expectations of this film because of the reviews it’s gotten, but it actually did fairly well. It’s not the best movie I’ve seen, but it wasn’t garbage either. All in all I recommend anyone to check this film out because it will give the family or even yourself a fun ride! FINAL SCORE: 80%= Juicy Popcorn
