“Ride Along”

FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Yet again, I have uploaded my Friday night movie review late, but hopefully this is the last time that this happens since I was busy yesterday. Anyway the movie I saw Friday night is the comedy “Ride Along” which stars Ice Cube (Are We There Yet?, Friday), Kevin Hart (Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, Laugh at My Pain), Bruce McGill (Collateral, Law Abiding Citizen), Tika Sumpter (The Haves and the Have Nots, Salt), John Leguizamo (Ice Age, Romeo + Juliet), Bryan Callen (Warrior, The Hangover), and Laurence Fishburne (The Colony, The Matrix). This movie is about a cop named James Payton (Cube) who will break some rules to get a case done, mostly in trying to get the biggest case of his life done by tracking down a huge convict named Omar (Fishburne) which no one has seen ever before, not even the goons that work for him. James’s sister is dating a buffoon of a security guard named Ben Barber (Hart) who wants to become a cop just like James. When Ben wants to marry James’s sister, he asks James for his blessing, but James says that in order for him to give to blessing of marrying his sister he first has to prove to James that he is worthy of her. The only way to show James that he is the one for her, he has to go on a ride along with James throughout Atlanta. I thought the movie was decent. It has good acting (Kevin Hart being pretty funny) as well as it is a funny movie. The story was okay and there were some good action scenes in it. Some cons of the movie would be that the movie isn’t as funny as it made out to be and the story could have been better in this. It just felt like one of those movies that you watch when you just want a good laugh and you aren’t into any story. FINAL SCORE: 77%= Juicy Popcorn
