BONUS MOVIE REVIEW: Last night I got to see another Oscar-winning movie called “12 Years a Slave” which stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men, American Gangster), Paul Giamatti (Sideways, The Illusionist), Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek: Into Darkness, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, X-Men: First Class), Lupita Nyong’o (Non-Stop), and Brad Pitt (World War Z, Fight Club). This movie is about a free black man named Solomon Northup (Ejiofor) who gets abducted and sold into slavery. Throughout the movie he goes through a couple of slave owners, including the worst owner, Edwin Eeps (Fassbender), and meets a bunch of other slaves. His journey spans over twelve years in slavery (obviously by the title), and all he is trying to do is get back home to his family. I thought the movie was good, but it didn’t feel like it was the movie of 2013 for me like the Academy thought it was. It had good acting and the story was good. It was also a very sad movie. Downsides to this movie include nudity and a bunch of violence in it. It also felt like it dragged in the story throughout the movie, but other than that the movie was pretty good. FINAL SCORE: 78%= Juicy Popcorn
