“Star Trek: Into Darkness”

FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Last night I got to sit down with my whole family to watch the movie, “Star Trek: Into Darkness” which stars Chris Pine (Star Trek, This Means War), Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Margin Call), Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean), Karl Urban (Dredd, The Bourne Supremacy), Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Paul), and Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey). This movie is the sequel prequel to the first Star Trek prequel movie “Star Trek” which is directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Super 8). This sequel tells how Kahn (Cumberbatch) was brought to the Star Trek universe and showing the enterprises first encounter with him. Kahn is a super being that can take a punch as much as superman because of his rapid cell regeneration. He plans on taking down the whole star fleet and it is up to Kirk (Pine), Spock (Quinto), and the rest of the enterprise to stop this man before he destroys Earth. I really enjoyed this movie better than the first one because it had a little more action and the story was fantastic even though I have not seen the TV show or the older movies that went with it like “The Wrath of Kahn”. It did put a twist on the whole Star Trek timeline that I bet fans got angry about (no spoilers though) and it did confuse me a bit of who the bad guy really was. Overall I thought it was a great movie and I think anyone one that at least watched some Star Trek should see it. FINAL SCORE: 86%= Juicy Popcorn
