In the Director’s Chair with Wes Anderson

IN THE DIRECTOR’S CHAIR

Long ago, since the beginning of this site, I wanted to see almost every Wes Anderson film I could get my hands on. “Fantastic Mr. Fox” opened the door, as it was the first blu-ray I purchased and quickly became one of my favorite animated films of all time. Slowly, I have seen other Anderson pictures, from his first feature “Bottle Rocket” to mystical “Moonrise Kingdom” to award-winner “Grand Budapest Hotel” to his latest to be screened, “Isle of Dogs.” I’ve enjoyed watching this man carve into his style, though there was always a huge chunk of his portfolio I was missing; four films to be exact that I haven’t seen. I’ve held off from reviewing them on the sole basis that I would only purchase them only blu-ray (the higher the quality, the better experience; I’m not sponsored). However, due to the never-changing, always expensive pricing of his films in this format (curse you Criterion), I caved in and bought them all on DVD. Whatever. It had to happen sometime, and now it’s finally here. This marathon will take place from August 27th, 2020 to August 30th, 2020. Here are the days…

Day One- “Rushmore”
Day Two- “The Royal Tenenbaums”
Day Three- “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”
Day Four- “The Darjeeling Limited”
