2019 OCTOBER MOVIE RANKINGS:
It came in a flash, but man was it fun. Got to review two new releases and analyze an oddball. You could say it was quite an eventful October. Let’s see where they stand.
#3- “The Witch”
70%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Beautiful cinematography, great dialogue, terrific performances, and an engaging experience.
Cons: The ending led the story down a disappointing avenue.
#2- “Joker”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: A knock-out performance by Joaquin Phoenix, fantastic cinematography, fresh origin story, unpredictable, and riveting.
Cons: The movie itself doesn’t hold much weight as it really just showcases insanity left unchecked, which is a rather unfulfilling experience for this reviewer.
#1- “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie”
93%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Fun add-on to the “Breaking Bad” universe, great acting, awesome visuals, and interesting story.
Cons: Fairly predictable and acts more as a two-part episode than film.
And so a Netflix original takes the month, as “El Camino” will go up against “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “Green Book,” “First Man,” “The Pilgrim’s Progress,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Toy Story 4,” “A Few Good Men,” “Django Unchained,” “The Limey,” and the rest of the month winners to declare a victor over the year!
