In the Actor’s Spotlight with Tom Cruise

IN THE ACTOR’S SPOTLIGHT

It’s been quite a while since I held a movie marathon, let alone one that showcases a specific individual’s work. A few years back I introduced a favorite segment of mine called In the Director’s Chair. So far, I focused on the works of four directors: The Coen Brother (Joel and Ethan), Jared Hess, and Mel Brooks. If there is anything I enjoy more than watching movies, it’s looking into the careers of those behind the scenes. There are plenty of accomplished people working in cinema, both in the present and in the past. Directing is something I’m passionate about, thus came the In the Director’s Chair segment. Now, I feel like broadening my showcase of careers to actors, and who better to start with than Tom Cruise? The man has his own page on my site and is one of my favorite actors, if not my favorite (Christopher Walken still sits at the top of my list, I believe). While I don’t necessarily write my reviews on these features specifically regarding Cruise’s performance (there’s plenty to talk about outside of acting with movies), I will analyze him when comparing the films I review in the results. Don’t fret, I’ll still critique his performance in all of these reviews; it would be stupid to hold a marathon like this and not to. So, without further ado, I give you In the Actor’s Spotlight with Tom Cruise! This marathon will take place from July 28th, 2018 to July 31st, 2018. Here are the films I will be reviewing, in the order of their release date:

Day One– “Risky Business”
Day Two– “Rain Man”
Day Three– “Far and Away”
Day Four– “The Last Samurai”
