March Movie Rankings

MARCH MOVIE RANKINGS:

Yes, I know that these rankings are coming late. I’m sorry people, but life is busy and never stopping. Hopefully April sees a larger turnout for film reviews. March was a wonderful month of movie watching, whether it be found in intrigue or immense humor. Read on, and see who won this month!

#4- “Masterminds” (2016)
82%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Hilarious, great cast, fun directing, and entertaining.
Cons: The second act ran out of steam with jokes and began to drag when drama was injected into the story.

#3- “John Wick: Chapter 2”
91%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Surprisingly good for a sequel, Keanu Reeves is awesome, the action sequences are killer, there are a ton of layers to the story, and it was highly entertaining.
Cons: Similar plot structure as the first and nitpicks in Wick’s fighting in public.

#3- “Logan”
91%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Bittersweet send-off to Logan and Xavier, great Indie vibe, brutal action scenes, great cinematography, and the most captivating Wolverine/X-Men experience.
Cons: A few story arcs could’ve been given more development, some spots drag, and a few plot devices are predictable.

#2- “Bicycle Thieves” (1948)
92%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Engaging, solid performances, strays from the typical Hollywood style, and has a gut-wrenching ending that was unpredictable.
Cons: The pacing was slow at times.

#1- “Arrival” (2016)
94%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Fascinating concept, shocking twist, fantastic acting, wonderful cinematography and visual effects, and fresh story.
Cons: The first thirty minutes takes a while to get things in motion.

“Arrival” has been crowned victor of March 2017 and will go up against “La La Land,” “The Fall,” and the rest of the winners next January to decide which one will become Movie of the Year for 2017.
