BEST ACTOR WINNER:
What!? Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t win this one? What about his work on “The Revenant”? While DiCaprio did a terrific job in his role, as did all the other nominees, I couldn’t help but award this prize to Joaquin Phoenix. The man basically embodied Johnny Cash, presenting a real earthy and dark tone to this film. I believed his character as he was the best part of the whole feature, alongside Reese Witherspoon’s June Carter. Not only did he have the acting chops for the roll, but he also sang rather well too. Some of Cash’s songs he sang better himself, if I may add (specifically “Cocaine Blues” and “It Ain’t Me Babe”).
