OCTOBER MOVIE RANKINGS:

Times have been immensely busy these past few months, but thankfully I was able to turn in some reviews. Mostly all of these films have been thrillers, but being as how it was October, it was expected (though I haven’t done this before). Thanks for tuning in this month, and like always, enjoy these rankings! (If you want).

#5- “Pay the Ghost”
68%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Decent performances, Nic Cage, entertaining, and good visual effects overall.
Cons: Cliché, has some idiotic moments, and contains nothing noteworthy.

#4- “The Last of the Mohicans”
79%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Great cinematography, cool time period, good performances, and awesome action sequences.
Cons: The characters need to be fleshed out more and the story blurred the lines between romance and drama in an uncomfortable way.

#4- “Pitch Black”
79%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Entertaining, interesting concept, decent performances, and cool action.
Cons: Terrible special effects, odd editing, and a few aspects of the story could’ve been made better.

#3- “Blood Father”
87%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Good acting, great action, a very cool revival from Mel Gibson, well-executed story, good setting, enjoyable, and gritty plot.
Cons: Is not as epic as you would want it to be nor memorable.

#2- “The Road”
89%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Terrific cinematography, great performances, brutal story, chilling score, and gripping.
Cons: The story does not hold much weight outside of its characters.

#1- “Stonehearst Asylum”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Stellar acting, good setting, great cinematography, intriguing story, good message, and has shocking moments.
Cons: The logic being the shockers did not make much sense realistically (I would explain, but it is hard without spoiling).

Juicy Hall of Fame Inductee– “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”
96%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Amazing action, held up special effects, solid acting, good story, entertaining, fun, and has many memorable moments.
Cons: Some scenes can be goofy and minor nitpicks.

There it is: “Stonehearst Asylum” is this October’s Movie of the Month, and will go up against “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” “Sicario,” “The Martian,” “Batman Begins,” “9,” “Aliens,” “Midnight Special,” “Finding Nemo,” “Frank” (2014), “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” and the remaining months’ winners in January to decide which one will become Movie of the Year.
