SEPTEMBER MOVIE RANKINGS:

September 2016 has wrapped, and so has the reviews. I’ve been to the theater more times than usual in a month, with some interesting results. I haven’t reviewed too low of lows, but there were a few bad apples in this tree. Read on, and see who has taken the month!

#7- “In-Lawfully Yours”
69%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Regent University’s first film (shouldn’t be a reason, but I just wanted to put that out there again), has some funny moments, and can be entertaining.
Cons: Too fast-paced, predictable, cliché, and not as impactful as it should be.

#7- “Spy Hard”
69%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Hilarious, highly entertaining, and the acting is decent.
Cons: Plot holes are everywhere, many things do not make sense, and I was left empty after the film concluded.

#6- “The Nice Guys”
70%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Funny at times, great chemistry amongst main stars, cool setting, and entertaining.
Cons: Excessive use of nudity and cursing, and the villains were rather one-dimensional.

#5- “Sully”
81%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Great acting, good cinematography and color tones, interesting dialogue, and was at times engaging.
Cons: Unorganized in the showing of events and there isn’t much character development.

#4- “The Magnificent Seven” (2016)
83%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Entertaining, awesome action, good chemistry between the main stars, decent acting, and funny.
Cons: Predictable, not that inventive, and shallow character development.

#3- “Before We Go”
84%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Engaging dialogue, interesting character development, good first directing attempt by Chris Evans, fun journey, and good acting.
Cons: The ending did not seem to do justice for the film.

#2- “The Vessel”
93%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Beautiful scenery and cinematography, deep themes and messages, and great dialogue.
Cons: Acting can be sub-par at times and some scenes can drag.

#1- “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”
95%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Fun chemistry between Newman and Redford, funny, intense, great cinematography, realistic, great acting, and cool action.
Cons: Some scenes can be random and hokey, and some of the songs used seem out of place with the time period this presents.

Juicy Hall of Fame Inductee– “The Usual Suspects”
96%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Fantastic story, terrific acting, thrilling, captivating interrogation scenes, and great directing.
Cons: Some scenes are dry.

In conclusion, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” has reigned victorious over September and will go up against the likes of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” “Sicario,” “The Martian,” “Batman Begins,” “9,” “Aliens,” “Midnight Special,” “Finding Nemo,” “Frank” (2014), and the remaining months of the year to decide who will be the next Movie of the Year!
