NOVEMBER MOVIE RANKINGS: November has been filled with good movies. I haven’t reviewed a movie below an 80% so it was definitely a good movie watching month. Read on as the rankings detail which movie came out on top of the November 2014 Movie Rankings!:
#8- “Hercules” (2014)
80%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Good story, great acting (Dwayne Johnson is the man! Or Rock…whichever), surprisingly funny, awesome action scenes, special effects, and it was better than expected.
Cons: The movie as a whole felt short and it could have been written with more detail. Maybe it is trying to start a franchise….
#7- “The Judge”
82%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was well done, the acting was fantastic, the courtroom scenes were great, and it gave a good vibe.
Cons: It was trying a little too hard to be sentimental and the bathroom scene felt unnecessary.
83%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The concept of this movie is something genuine, the writing was interesting, the acting was spot on, they flush out the characters greatly, and the action and special effects scenes were some of the best parts.
Cons: The movie began to drag in the middle, the cussing wasn’t needed in cases, and the ending disappointed me.
#5- “Dumb and Dumber To”
88%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Hilarious, great reunion movie, it had many jokes throughout (it wasn’t one of those movies where all the funny scenes are in the trailer), great acting, and a fun experience.
Cons: It presented itself with the same archetype as the first one and it has a bit too many “wiener” jokes.
#4- “X-Men: Days of Future Past”
89%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: It had a very good story, giving itself a suspenseful tone, the special effects were amazing, the action scenes were killer, the acting was good, and it held up as its own movie rather than having to rely entirely on the stories of the previous movies (basically anyone can watch this movie and not be too confused, unless they don’t know who Wolverine is).
Cons: Throughout the movie it tended to drag.
#3- “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story is gripping, it’s the best one of the franchise, the acting is as always good (Tom Cruise has done it again), the action and special effects scenes have immensely improved, it had Josh Holloway in it, and it kept true to the Mission Impossible franchise.
Cons: It took awhile to pick up on the story in the beginning and it felt dry in stories in places, mainly with dialogue.
#3- “Gran Torino”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was done well, it gave a great sense of the ghetto community of the modern times, the acting was really good, and for what action scenes there were, were great!
Cons: It was slow in some spots and the cussing wasn’t needed in areas.
#2- “A Beautiful Mind”
91%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: The story was very intriguing and deep, the acting was marvelous (Russell Crowe’s best performance yet), the make-up work was great, and it had a surprising plot twist.
Cons: It didn’t go all along with the actual biography and it tended to drag.
93%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: It blew me away, the story was genius, it makes you think deeply, it was an emotional journey, the acting was spectacular, the relationship of Murph and Cooper felt genuine, the characters are well-written, the special effects are by far the best to date, and the soundtrack was epic (good job Hans Zimmer!).
Cons: It gets slow in places in the movie (tired of me saying that about movies yet?)
It was a tough competition, but “Interstellar” came out on top and it will go up against “The Pursuit of Happyness”, “Zombieland”, “300”, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, “Forrest Gump”, “Edge of Tomorrow”, “The Matrix”, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, “Mission Impossible III”, and “The Avengers” in January 2015 to decide which movie will become the next Movie of the Year for 2014!!!! Stay tuned for the first review of December.
