BONUS MOVIE REVIEW: Man, there has been quite a bit of bonus reviews for this month, but I’ve been watching a lot of movies on vacation. The movie I saw last night was called “3 Days to Kill” which stars Kevin Costner (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Man of Steel), Amber Heard (Zombieland, Drive Angry), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Ender’s Game), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, One Hour Photo), Tomas Lemarquis (Snowpiercer, Painless), and Richard Sammel (Casino Royale, Life is Beautiful). This movie is about a CIA agent named Ethan Renner (Costner) who is on a mission to take down an evil man known as The Wolf (Sammel). He is so close to finding out who he is through his partner, The Albino (Lemarquis), but he couldn’t get to him after passing out. He wakes up in the hospital to find out that he has cancer and only has a couple of months to live. He then decides to leave his CIA life and reconnect with his wife, Christine (Nielsen), and daughter, Zooey (Steinfeld). When he gets back, his daughter doesn’t really want to spend time with him after being separated for years. It doesn’t take long for his old life to catch up with him though when a woman named Vivi (Heard) comes to him with a job of killing The Wolf for good in exchange for an experimental drug that could give him more time to live. After being told that, Ethan agrees. His wife then has to leave for a couple of days and puts her in Ethan’s hands making it difficult to do the job and take care of his daughter at the same time. I didn’t really care for this movie. The trailer for it set a very different tone, making you think that he has three days left to live if he doesn’t kill the bad guy to get the drugs. What the movie really shows is he has to watch his daughter for three days and they need to find a way to kill time (3 days to kill). The plot dragged and it got boring fast. They tried to drown you with comedy, which didn’t even make me laugh, while displaying action and drama at the same time. Another thing they did was promote it as a heavily action, thriller movie, but instead gave you some sort of trying-to-be heartwarming movie about a dad trying to get back with his daughter. The only good parts of this movie are the action scenes, the acting, and the cancer idea. Other than those, I would say that this doesn’t touch Juicy standards. FINAL SCORE: 40%= Burnt Popcorn
