FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Tonight I got to see a movie a wanted to see in theaters last summer called “R.I.P.D” which stars Jeff Bridges (Iron Man, True Grit), Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, The Proposal), Kevin Bacon (X-Men: First Class, Apollo 13), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, Red), Stephanie Szostak (Iron Man 3, Dinner for Schmucks), James Hong (Kung Fu Panda, Mulan), and Marisa Miller. This movie is about a cop named Nick (Reynolds) who is murdered by his partner, Hayes (Bacon), during a drug bust sending him up to a place where he joins the R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department) to fight off the evil that stayed on Earth or escaped to Earth instead of going to selection. He then gets assigned to his partner Roy (Bridges) who is a loose cannon who has been doing his job since the 1800’s. They eventually find a link to gold that they find out will be used to reverse the tunnel that sent Nick to the R.I.P.D. to bring evil down from it instead of send them up forming an apocalypse. Now it is up to Nick and Roy to stop this machine and save Nick’s wife in the process to save Earth as we know it. Even though the movie got bad reviews at the box office, I thought it was an alright movie. It reminded of “Men In Black” a lot, but other than that the movie was fine. I liked the plot, the action scenes, and how funny it was. I especially love the visual effects and animating done into this. It makes it look very awesome! I recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good movie to watch! FINAL SCORE: 81%= Juicy Popcorn

  1. Good review. It’s honestly not as bad as so many people have made it out to be. It just lacks personality, that’s all. It can still be fun, though.
