FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: To start off the May 2013 movie reviews, I saw “War of the Worlds (2005).” It stars Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible, Oblivion) and is directed by Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, Jaws). It is an action/adventure/suspenseful movie based loosely on the book of the same name by H.G. Wells. It is about a man named Ray who has to watch his two children for his ex-wife while she goes on a trip to Boston for her parents with her new husband. A few hours after he is watching them, a huge storm hits sending several lightning strikes down to Earth. Then up out of the ground comes tripods that start vaporizing everyone and try to take over the world. Ray then takes his children and drives off to Boston to find their mother with a bunch of craziness along the way. I really enjoyed it and Tom Cruise seemed to do a great job in it. The animations for the sci-fi stuff was spectacular and I could tell they put a lot of time and money into it. I recommend this to any sci-fi lovers or people who have seen the original movies and read the book! FINAL SCORE: 91%= Juicy Popcorn
Changes have been made to this review after The Juicy Awards of 2013. They do not effect the results of what has previously been punched in for Movie of the Year.
